The PetPoint Adoption Report is a monthly gauge of U.S. pet owner demand for dogs and cats available for adoption. Data is aggregated via PetPoint Animal Management Software, a “SaaS” (Software as a Service) application developed and launched in 2005. PetPoint is the most widely used animal management application in animal welfare.
The PetPoint report for November aggregates data from 873 animal welfare organisations (“AWOs”) in the United States and compares it to data from 2009. For the purposes here, AWOs are defined as animal control agencies, SPCAs, humane societies and rescue groups. Only data from AWOs whose data was available in both November 2009 and November 2010 have been included.
The report includes data on 119,266 dogs and cats that entered AWOs during the month (referred to as Intakes) and 112,094 dogs and cats that left AWOs over the same period (referred to as Outcomes). Only data for dogs and cats is reported here. AWOs from 46 states (excluding Alaska, Delaware, Rhode Island and Hawaii), Washington D.C. and U.S. Virgin Islands are represented in this report.
