SPECIAL EDITION: PetPoint Report for the Year-End 2011

This special edition PetPoint Report for the Year-End 2011 offers a complete year over year comparison of U.S. pet owner demand for dogs and cats available for adoption and is the first annualized PetPoint Report ever published. It aggregates data from 795 animal welfare organizations ("AWOs") in the United States and compares it to same shelter aggregate data from 2010. For the purposes here, AWOs are defined as animal control agencies, SPCAs, humane societies and rescue groups. Only data from AWOs operating PetPoint for the duration of both 2010 and 2011 have been included.

The report includes data on 1,537,961 dogs and cats that entered AWOs during the year 2011 (referred to as Intakes) and 1,508,754 dogs and cats that left AWOs over the same period (referred to as Outcomes). Only data for dogs and cats is reported here. AWOs from 45 states (excluding Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, North Dakota, and Rhode Island), Washington D.C. and U.S. Virgin Islands are represented in this report.

Data is aggregated via the PetPoint Animal Management Software, a cloud-based application developed and launched in 2005. PetPoint is the most widely used animal management application in North American animal welfare with licensed organizations now serving more than 75% of the human population in the United States.

PetPoint reports are published monthly on the third Monday of each month, excluding holidays, in which case they are published the following business day.

staff was very flexible
Pet Point is a great tool for our shelter! Unlike our previous shelter management system, PetPoint is very easy to use. Our staff was able to learn it very quickly - it is very user friendly. The training staff at Pet Point is very knowledgeable and friendly - they were great during our training process! The PetPoint staff was very flexible and worked with our shelter's schedule so that all our staff was able to attend the training.
